  4.                RULES FOR THE NEW ZEALAND GENEALOGY CONFERENCE 
  5.                            (NZ_GENEALOGY ECHO)

  7. PURPOSE                                              March 14, 1994

  10. The purpose of the NZ GENEALOGY conference is primarly to provide a forum for
  11. the discussion of topics relating to genealogical matters IN NEW ZEALAND,
  12. including, but not limited to, the following:
  13.  
  14.    1. the use of computers for genealogy, including hardware,
  15.       software, and communication
  16.  
  17.    2. The safekeeping of and access to information of interest to
  18.       genealogists
  19.  
  20.    3. Transcribing and indexing of information useful to
  21.       genealogists, such as cemetery records, and the records of
  22.       religious and other organizations
  23.  
  24.    4. Helping users to solve problems in genealogical research by
  25.       discussing particular research problems, suggesting possible
  26.       sources of information etc.
  27.  
  28.    5. Helping users to make contact with others with similar
  29.       interests, for example those who are researching the same
  30.       families
  31.  
  32.    6. Promoting the establishment and development of international
  33.       standards for the recording of genealogical information.

  35. FIDONET RULES

  38. Messages in this conference shall be subject to the current rules of the
  39. International Fidonet Association (IFNA). In practice,what this means for users
  40. is that there should be no flaming, no off-topic messages, and that if there is
  41. any "excessively annoy-ing behaviour" it should be dealt with first by the
  42. moderator,and if necessary by the echomail coordinators in accordance with
  43. general Fidonet policy.

  45. COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING

  48. Fidonet is not to be used for commercial advertising, but discussion,
  49. comparison, and review about products such as computer programs that will be
  50. useful to genealogists are permitted, provided they have a genealogical
  51. application.
